The program runs four, four-month semesters (16 months total). Classes run Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm. During didactic training, time is split equally between classroom lectures and hands-on scan lab. Clinical training is Monday through Friday.
Graduates are prepared to sit for the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification exams once they meet exam eligibility requirements.
Coastal Ultrasound Institute is a new program and not yet accredited. We are committed to aligning with accreditation standards as the school grows.
You’ll train in general, OB/GYN, echocardiography and vascular ultrasound, gaining didactic, hands-on, and clinical training experience.
The program is hands-on and requires in-person attendance. Some general education and practice exams may be available online, but classroom education, scan labs and clinicals are on-site.
Yes. Students residing outside of Mobile may request to complete their clinical rotations in their home community. Approval is contingent upon the availability of an appropriate clinical site and qualified supervising sonographer, as determined by our clinical coordinator.
